Postal services in many parts of the country have been disrupted due to the blizzard. In some places, the situation is so bad that the postal services have been temporarily suspended. As of a ‘Saturday, 06 Feb 2010, 12:02 PM EST’ update, the postal delivery was completely suspended for Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C Southern Maryland, and Suburban Maryland. Patrick Murphy, who is the spokesperson for the Postal Service for Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C, made the announcement early on Saturday morning. The services have been affected as a blizzard continued to create havoc in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Due to the 2010 blizzard, thousands of people are suffering, as they are bereft of power. The public transportation systems have also been badly affected, so they are making cancellation en masse, which is in turn affecting the public no end. Many shops, commercial establishments and businesses have also been closed. The National Weather Service has predicted very heavy snow for the Washington DC region. They have posted a Winter Storm Warning for the time period of 10 a.m. ET, Friday, Feb. 5, until 10 p.m. ET, Saturday, Feb. 6. The ZIP codes of the affected areas are 224, 225, 228-239, 244.
